Lake Rotoiti at Nelson Lakes NP
Actually there are two lakes with this name, one is located on the North Island of New Zealand near lake Rotorua. But the lake I am talking about is located in Nelson Lakes National Park on the South Island. This lake is fed by the Travers River and gives birth to the Buller River.
There are several traming tracks circling the lake, and also going further into the mountains of the Nelson Lakes NP. I used the Lakeside track as a beginning of long seven day journey into very beautifull mountain passes and valleys of this captivating place. The Travers Saddle and Moss mountain passes are among the most beautiful mountain passes I ever crossed.
