Baldwin Street of Dunedin, New Zealand is officially recognized by the Guinness Book to be the steepest street in the world at a 35% grade. It is located in the suburb of North East Valley. At its maximum the slope of Baldwin Street is such that for every 2.86 meters traveled horizontally, the elevation rises by 1 meter!
