Wanganui YHA garden

Wanganui town is located close to the mouth of the Whanganui River. It is 200 kilometres north of Wellington and 75 kilometres northwest of Palmerston North, at the junction of State Highways 3 and 4.

This shot was taken at the YHA hostel in Wanganui after a heavy rain. This hostel has a great garden full of beautiful flowers. The tap drew my attention here and I couldn’t resist of photographing it together with its surroundings.

Giraffe from Wellington Zoo

Wellington Zoo is New Zealand’s oldest zoo – it was founded in 1906, so it is 102 years old!
Wellington Zoo is involved with managed breeding programs and has had many notable successes with numerous animals having offspring within these programs.

I photographed this giraffe from a very close distance when it came inside to feed. I was amazed how graceful these creatures are.
